Join Our Team as a Truck Driver
As a Truck Driver based at our Paget Depot, you'll be a vital member of our civil operations team, driving and operating a variety of trucks and equipment to maintain and construct roads, drainage, and other civil infrastructure.
You'll also carry out labouring, plant and truck operation duties associated with the maintenance and construction of roads and drainage assets, or other associated civil infrastructure, under the remote supervision of a supervisor or leading hand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive and Thrive: Competently operate a range of trucks, from rigid motor vehicles up to 15 tonnes to heavy trailer combinations exceeding 43 tonnes.
- Hands-On Tasks: Engage in maintenance and construction activities, including earthworks, concrete work, pipelaying, bitumen, and vegetation work.
- Team Player: Provide on-the-job training and share your knowledge and skills with fellow work colleagues.
- Safety First: Maintain high standards of safety and comply with Workplace Health and Safety regulations.
- Client Service: Deliver exceptional service to both internal and external clients.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Current General Construction Safety "White" Card.
- Current QLD Manual Car 'C' Class Open Driver's Licence. or interstate equivalent. Note: interstate licences must be transferred to QLD within three (3) months of commencement.
- Current QLD Heavy Combination Truck 'HC' Class Licence.
- Licence/tickets to operate road construction plant and/or equipment.
Desirable:
- Certificate III in Civil Construction.
- Current Traffic Controllers Ticket.
Skills
Essential:
- Well-developed competency driving trucks.
- Well- developed skills in operation of ride-on equipment and light, medium and heavy mechanical plant.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients.
- Ability to undertake basic numerical calculations to a standard commensurate with the duties involved in the position.
- Demonstrated safe manual handling skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and foster a team environment.
Desirable:
- Skills in concrete finishing.
Knowledge
Essential:
- Well-developed knowledge of preventative machinery maintenance.
- Extensive knowledge of roads and drainage construction / maintenance works activities.
- Extensive knowledge of operation and maintenance of mechanical plant and equipment in road construction/maintenance related activities.
- Sound knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety regulations relevant to the Construction Industry.
Special Requirements
- Willingness and flexibility to work overtime outside normal hours, where required, to undertake assigned tasks.
- Commitment to working cooperatively with others and foster team environment in line with the Civil Operations/Civil Projects Team Book.
- Willingness to operate other construction equipment and undertake higher duties, where required, to meet task objectives, as directed by Supervisor.
