About the Opportunity
Barcaldine Regional Council is looking for a full-time Director of Corporate & Community Services based in Barcaldine, QLD.
Reporting to the CEO, this role is accountable for overseeing corporate services, including finance, systems, governance, and community-facing operations across five regional townships.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supporting and guiding the Finance team while systems are strengthened
Leading organisational transformation, including oversight of a whole-of-council ERP implementation
Providing strong executive visibility through monthly visits to depots and admin centres
Maintaining a presence across five towns and balancing regional service equity
Building effective relationships across internal teams, the Council, and the wider community
Driving transparency, accountability, and community engagement from the executive level
Championing local government service delivery with a focus on responsiveness and trust
Leading governance and financial compliance activities in collaboration with the Council and stakeholders
Ensuring all communities feel heard and represented in executive decision-making
Representing BRC at forums, meetings, and stakeholder events as required
About You
We're looking for a well-rounded leader with extensive leadership experience, a strong background in finance, and the ability to build meaningful relationships across regional communities. Strength in all three areas - finance, leadership, and community engagement is essential for success in this role.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
CA or CPA qualification (highly regarded but not essential)
Experience working within or supporting local government service delivery
Exposure to ERP implementation or systems improvement at a leadership level
Knowledge of Queensland’s local governance and funding environments
Strategic oversight of finance, governance, and operational improvement initiatives
