Are you ready to put in the miles to make an amazing impact in someone’s life?
I am a friendly, very high energy 23 year old young woman living in my own home in Gosnells. I am supported by a female team of support workers, and I am needing to expand my team to include some high energy males who can assist supporting me out in the community. If you have high energy, compassion, understanding, multiple methods of communicating and understanding non verbal communication, along with a fair bit of grit – this might be the role for you.
I am someone who lives by rituals, my compulsions make me feel safe and help me to stay regulated. This might mean that I appear to do strange things – but they make sense to me. Out in the community, this might seem strange to others who don’t know me, so I need you to support me through this because here is the thing – I can’t verbally communicate. I am looking for rockstar Support Workers who can assist me with this out and about.
I am always seeking sensory input, touch, see, smell, hear – I need it all. This makes getting out and about an adventure for us all. Are you fast paced and can you keep up with me? Let’s go on a hike and see. I don’t have the greatest safety awareness, so support with that will be on you.
I love getting out into the community, and I hope you will too! This is not without its challenges and my team are working tirelessly to support me to engage in making connections outside of my home. I am really excited to share these new adventures with you.
Who am I looking for?
I am looking for male Support Workers who can pair with my existing team, and help me access the community and activities that I enjoy safely. I am looking for Support Workers who can understand and follow process, but who also speak up and tell my team when something isn’t working. I need patient, fast paced and quick minded people around me to keep me safe.
· A calm presence: Someone who stays cool under pressure, remembers their training and brings a steady, centred energy.
· An energizer bunny: I am fast – and I have endless energy. I need someone who can keep up with me to ensure I am safe.
· An observer and a do-er: Communicating with me is more than just talking. It is listening and watching – I need someone who pays attention and can see what is coming next.
What is the role:
We are going to start off slow. I need time to get to know you and you need time to get to know me. These are visiting hourly supports through the day to support me to connect with my community and engage in activities outside of my home paid under the SCHADS award. My roster which is very routine, needs someone who is dedicated to set days with me, but who also has the flexibility to cover if needed.
Why join me?
Supporting me means more than just being a part of a team – it means being part of my life’s journey. When you really get to know me, you’ll get a sense of adventure and achievement as we walk this path.
So if you’re ready to bring you’re a game, follow proven process but also challenge the status quo, help me pave my way through adventure and fun safely, LET’S GO!
