About the Opportunity
Meander Valley Council welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates for the role of Civil Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer. Joining our dedicated and collaborative Infrastructure team, the successful candidate will work across a varied range of operational and capital projects in the urban suburbs, regional townships and rural landscapes that make up our municipality. In this role you will be responsible for the preparation of design drawings, specifications, and project plans relating to civil engineering work for both construction and maintenance of Council infrastructure (including roads, footpaths, bridges and stormwater drainage).
What you will need to succeed
To be successful you will have completed a tertiary qualification in civil engineering and have a minimum of two years work experience in an engineering role. You will be able to work independently but will also have a willingness to collaborate and contribute within a small team environment. You will be confident in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation and standards and will clearly and confidently communicate (verbally and in writing) these requirements to other Council Officers and members of the public as required. The successful candidates will have a current right to work in Australia.
What we will offer you
This position is offered as a permanent full-time role based at Council's offices in Westbury, approximately 25 minutes from Launceston.
Annual salary will be negotiated subject to applicant’s qualification, skills, and experience within a range of $91,646 and $104,107 plus a salary increase in line with Council’s Enterprise Agreement 2025 when finalised. Council currently also pay an additional 3.5% above the amount required by the Superannuation Guarantee legislation (total amount currently 15.5% from 1 July 2025) in accordance with Council’s Enterprise Agreement 2022.
Other employment conditions and benefits include:
A 19-day month, allowing for a rostered day off once every 4 weeks.
