Bring your butchery expertise to the classroom and shape the next generation of trade professionals as a TAFE Lecturer.

About the Position
As the Lecturer - Butchery, you will be responsible for delivering Butchery training per the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) standards and VET Quality Framework and to the competency standards of the Retail Meat and Butchery Training Package. This position requires the timely and accurate completion of administrative tasks associated with training provisions, including the maintenance of accurate student records. It contributes to growing the teaching business including anticipation and response to industry training requirements. This position is available at either our Palmerston (Darwin) or Alice Springs Campus with ability to travel as required.

About You
To be successful, you will be required to hold:

  • A retail butchery trade qualification and the associated AMP30815 Certificate III in Australian Meat Processing (Retail Butcher) and demonstrate relevant post-work experience within the past five years in the butchery industry.
  • Current qualification equivalent to a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or its successor) and the ability to obtain competencies in additional core units as required.
  • AMP31016 Certificate III Australian Meat Processing (Smallgoods Manufacture) is desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Food Safety Standards and its application in retail.
  • Demonstrated experience providing training within a workplace or educational institution.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including communicating culturally sensitively with internal and external stakeholders to whom English may not be the first language.
  • Must be able to work and travel to regional and remote locations
  • Must be able to work flexible hours (as required)
  • A valid Australian driver’s license (C class or higher)

Desirable competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to abide by and implement Workplace Health and Safety and Equal Opportunity Policies and Procedures.
  • Abattoir experience (slaughter floor and boing room)
  • AWOSS-animal welfare & Meat safety Inspection experience
  • A proven track record in supporting commercial activities within a team.
  • Experience in developing training tools to meet the needs of students and / or industry clients

Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at VET Academic Level A, Step 8 - 10. The base salary will be in the range of $100,892 - $111,253 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $118,043 - $130,166 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
