Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Sheetmetal Worker or Trades Assistant to join our electrical switchboard manufacturing team. This role involves fabricating, modifying, and assembling Sheetmetal enclosures and components for electrical switchboards. The ideal candidate will have experience working with light to medium gauge Sheetmetal, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.

Job Time: Permanent Full Time

Key Responsibilities:

Fabricate and assemble custom Sheetmetal enclosures and parts for switchboards using a variety of tools and machinery, including:

Guillotines

Pan brakes

Folding and bending Sheetmetal

Occasional welding

Cut-outs in Sheetmetal for electrical equipment

Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and fabrication plans to ensure accurate builds.

Cut, bend, drill, and shape Sheetmetal parts to precise dimensions.

Install internal switchboard components such as mounting plates, gland plates, and access panels.

Mark out and install cut-outs and penetrations for control devices, cable entries, and ventilation components.

Fabrication of busbars and components

Assembly of Switchboard framework

Ensure all fabricated work meets dimensional tolerances, safety requirements, and quality standards.

Assist with modifications or repairs to enclosures as required by engineering or testing teams.

Adherence to testing procedures and GSB production standards.

Adherence to directions from management, leading hands and qualified persons.

Willingness to attend site for switchboard connections

Maintain a clean and organised work area and follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Trade qualification in Sheetmetal Fabrication (advantageous) or Trades Assistant relevant experience in a manufacturing setting

Hold Current general safety induction certificate.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in Sheetmetal work, ideally within electrical switchboard or enclosure manufacturing

Ability to read and interpret workshop drawings and layout plans

Proficiency in the use of Sheetmetal machinery and hand tools

Strong attention to detail and quality

Good communication and teamwork skills

Physically fit and capable of manual handling
