About the Role
The Activities Officer provides social group and recreational programs to members of the community that take into account the physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs of the individual/group. They are also responsible for supporting the daily operation of the Community Centre including a range of general administration tasks.
This is opportunity is a fixed term part time position offering 22 hours per week, until December 2025!
Take the operational lead on ensuring delivery of group work and activities in the centre, and activities in the community.
Plan groups and activities, facilitate groups and evaluate outcomes, all while clearly communicating with BCC team members.
Assist with the development of individual care plans and provide high quality supports in accordance with the individual’s care plan. In addition, document and report on client progress and reviews.
Build positive relationships and communicate appropriately with clients, their families and networks accessing the centre.
Provide personal support (prompting and assistance with meal preparation and/or personal care) as required to maintain the dignity of individuals participating in services.
Provide transport for clients utilising BCC vehicles.
Provide guidance, support and supervision to volunteers and students in regards to the facilitation of client participation.
Assist in the general maintenance of the Centre including cleaning tasks.
Work as member of a dynamic team and actively participate in team meetings.
About You
Demonstrated experience in the planning, implementation and review of group activities for specific client groups.
Demonstrated experience working with frail aged participants including Dementia, and younger persons living with a Disability on the NDIS program
Demonstrated ability to work closely with Volunteers.
High level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to provide quality customer service and ability to set and maintain professional standards and work within a small team environment.
Demonstrated ability to complete documentation required for programs and maintain accurate client records.
Computer literacy with Microsoft Office suite of programs and ability learn database systems and applications.
Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and continuous quality improvement practices.
Desirable:
Any other specialised qualifications in related areas, e.g. music, art, exercise.
Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one.

Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy.
Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.
