The Role:

Our client is a financial services business based in the Sydney CBD who are embarking on a number of new IT projects and require a Cloud DevOps Engineer to join the team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and efficient cloud infrastructure and DevOps pipelines to support the organization’s software engineering teams. This role plays a critical part in enabling continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), infrastructure automation, and operational excellence across both AWS and Azure environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain secure and scalable cloud infrastructure using Terraform across AWS and Azure
• Develop and manage reusable configuration templates (e.g., Docker) to ensure consistency across environments
• Provision infrastructure in accordance with IaC best practices and organizational standards
• Support software engineers with IaC deployments and environment provisioning
• Refine and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes
• Implement pipeline stages for security scanning, testing, and compliance validation
• Create and manage automation scripts and tooling to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort
• Monitor system and application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations
• Design and implement disaster recovery (DR) patterns and high availability configurations
• Ensure infrastructure reliability through proactive monitoring, alerting, and remediation
• Implement cloud security best practices and ensure compliance with internal and external standards including CIS benchmarks
• Collaborate with security teams to integrate controls into infrastructure and deployment pipelines
• Maintain documentation for cloud environments, system configurations, and operational procedures

Key Skills:

• Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure cloud platforms, with hands-on experience in infrastructure design and deployment
• Proficiency in Terraform and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve infrastructure and deployment issues
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Understanding of cloud security principles, identity and access management, and compliance requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert are preferred.
• Over 5 years experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or a related field.
