About the role

We are seeking a skilled Sawyer Benchman-Carriage Operator to join our team at Robertson Brothers Sawmills in Gympie, Queensland. This is a full-time position that will play a crucial role in our sawmill operations.

What you'll be doing

Operate and maintain the sawmill's carriage, accurately positioning logs for optimal cutting

Ensure precise and efficient sawing of timber to meet production targets and quality standards

Monitor machinery performance and make adjustments as needed to optimise productivity

Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting on sawmill equipment

Collaborate with the wider team to identify areas for process improvement

Adhere to all health, safety and environmental regulations to maintain a safe work environment

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Sawyer Benchman-Carriage Operator or similar role in a sawmill or timber processing environment

Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate and maintain sawmill machinery

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills to ensure high-quality timber output

A commitment to workplace health and safety

Effective communication and teamwork skills

Certification in Timber Processing or a related field is highly regarded
