POSITION PURPOSE
Pop In’s Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) caseworker will provide wide ranging supports to women impacted by domestic violence and their children, as well as contribute to centre programs and help facilitate the day-to-day operations of Pop In.

Pop In provides a ‘one stop shop’ for women and children threatened or impacted by domestic violence and abuse in the Wingecarribee Shire, with a range of services, provided by a small professional staff, supported by invaluable volunteers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Organisational
· Uphold the organisational values, vision and goals as outlined in the Pop In Service Model
· Contribute to safety for all at Pop In through a strong commitment to WHS, and a thorough understanding of Pop In’s Policies and Procedures
· Ensure work practices are ethical and comply with the practice principles, standards and guidance for Domestic and Family Violence services in NSW
· Other duties as directed from time to time within your skills range and capacity.
Case Work
· Work alongside women accessing the service to help them meet their goals through drop-in support, case management, facilitated groups and programs.
· Provide holistic case management to support positive outcomes for Pop In clients and their children, including referral to specialist supports as required
· Undertake intake and assessment of new clients (including safety assessments), and participate in regular reviews of the clients' identified needs and goals
· Monitor child protection issues, consult with centre manager and act in accordance with the NSW Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998
· Ensure that client files and records on the Client Management System are maintained to include current and relevant client information in accordance with regulations and organisational policies and procedures.
· Provide advocacy on behalf of clients with other organisations and government departments and support at client appointments including court appearances
· Build the profile of Pop In within the community including programs facilitated by Pop In
· Maintain professional collaborative relationships with key community stakeholders and service providers
· Input to organisational strategic and operational planning activities
· Undertake relevant professional development workshops and forums to maintain and expand knowledge base in alignment with Pop In’s commitment to best practice.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Qualifications
· Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Child and Family Services, Youth Work or a related discipline (e.g. Early Childhood, Education etc.)
Experience
· Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and families
· Demonstrated experience providing a holistic and dignity driven domestic and family violence response to clients who have experienced or are experiencing gender-based violence using trauma-informed, case management approaches
· Demonstrated experience providing phone and face to face comprehensive and ongoing risk assessments, safety planning, crisis support, advocacy, information, referrals to additional services and supporting clients to navigate the service system
· Demonstrated experience providing client centred approaches to victim-survivors with a strong understanding of complexities relating to domestic, family or sexual violence including collaboration with other services that may hold the major responsibility for the client
· Demonstrated experience working from a trauma informed solutions-focused perspective when faced with complex situations evolving from service barriers and other system gaps
· Demonstrated commitment to social justice, ethical practice, cultural diversity and EEO
· Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal women and their families and families from culturally diverse backgrounds
Licences and other
· Current NSW unrestricted Class C Drivers Licence
· Satisfactory Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Criminal History Check clearance
Desirable criteria
· Experience in child and family services including child protection
· Experience in managing quality, compliance and evaluation processes
· Experience in working with women and their families impacted by domestic and family violence.
· Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills particularly in advocacy
· Knowledge and skills to ensure the provision of culturally, gender and age-appropriate services to clients.
· Working knowledge of the laws related to Domestic & Family Violence
