Are you an experienced clinician ready to lead a dynamic, trauma-informed counselling team supporting carers across Australia? This is an exciting opportunity to guide a dedicated team of practitioners in delivering brief interventions and therapeutic support in a person-centred, strength-based model.

About the Role:
Reporting to the Practice Manager, the Counselling Lead will provide clinical oversight, operational guidance, and day-to-day support to a team of qualified counselling professionals delivering phone-based services nationally. This role includes both leadership responsibilities and the opportunity to hold a small clinical caseload.

Operating nationally from 8:00am to 8:00pm, this service supports carers and family members of people affected by mental health challenges, disability, or challenges faced by ageing.

The Counselling Lead role is offered over two shift options:

  • 8:00am – 4:00pm
  • 12:00pm – 8:00pm

You’ll be instrumental in supporting clinical quality, developing team capacity, and maintaining best practice standards in line with contract requirements and sector expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day clinical supervision, coaching, and leadership to a team of counsellors.
  • Oversee shift operations, workflow allocation, and service delivery to meet KPIs.
  • Contribute to strategic and operational planning and ensure quality assurance standards are met.
  • Support ongoing learning, professional development, and team wellbeing.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, escalate clinical or operational concerns, and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a small caseload as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with child protection, domestic violence, and mental health legislation.

About You You're a natural leader with strong therapeutic foundations and experience guiding others in delivering impactful, person-centred services. You thrive in a remote work environment and are passionate about improving outcomes for carers and their families. You are able to travel to Sydney two Thursdays per month and can participate in a full-time 5 week in-person induction.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Relevant qualifications in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work, and current professional registration (e.g. ACA, PACFA, AASW, AHPRA, FDRP).
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role, with a minimum of 3 years supporting clinical teams.
  • Understanding of digital service delivery and brief intervention models.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation including child protection, DFV, and mental health frameworks.
  • High-level communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence using CRM systems and Microsoft applications.
  • Cultural responsiveness and experience supporting First Nations and CALD communities.
  • National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).

Desirable

  • Qualified Clinical Supervisor or currently working toward this.
  • Experience moderating online forums or digital communities.

What’s On Offer

  • Nationally-reaching, trauma-informed service with meaningful impact.
  • Flexible, work-from-home environment.
  • Supportive team culture with ongoing professional development.
  • The chance to lead a skilled team making a real difference in the lives of carers.
