About the Role
We are recruiting for a Governance Advisor to join a high-performing Governance & Audit team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced legal or privacy professional to contribute to critical governance functions, working across privacy compliance, foreign investment (FIRB) conditions, and internal frameworks.
This role will be based in either Sydney or Melbourne, offering a collaborative and supportive team environment, and the ability to work on meaningful projects in a growing organisation within the energy industry. The business offers a hybrid working model of 3 days in office and 2 days WFH.
Key Responsibilities
Provide practical legal and governance advice across the business, particularly relating to privacy law and FIRB conditions.
Support the implementation and enhancement of privacy and information management frameworks and policies.
Conduct and advise on Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
Manage governance inboxes, registers, and reporting processes.
Serve as committee secretary for the Information Governance Committee.
Help drive a culture of 'privacy by design' across the organisation.
Support internal governance and training initiatives.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
At least 2-4 years’ experience as a solicitor, either in-house or in private practice.
Strong knowledge of privacy legislation, the Australian Privacy Principles, and PIA requirements.
Experience in corporate governance and risk management frameworks.
Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to distill complex legal concepts for business stakeholders.
High attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
A collaborative, proactive, and service-oriented mindset.
Experience supporting Privacy Officers or Risk Officers with programs and policies.
Familiarity with developing and applying governance frameworks.
Experience with complaint handling and minute-taking.
