About the role
Are you a technically skilled and detail-oriented engineer looking to contribute to the delivery of innovative transport solutions? Join our team as a Project Engineer Rollingstock, where you’ll play a key role in supporting the planning, design, and delivery of rolling stock systems and services for the transformational Radio System Replacement and High-Capacity Signalling projects. In this position, you'll provide vital engineering input throughout the project lifecycle, assist in inspections, prepare technical specifications, and ensure that asset management data is accurately maintained. Your technical contributions will help ensure that all engineering solutions are safe, cost-effective, and aligned with project quality objectives.
This role also provides exposure to project and contract management functions, including supporting the development of specifications, evaluating tenders, and administering contracts. You’ll liaise with both internal and external stakeholders to provide valuable input into project outcomes and prepare clear, concise reports to inform decision-making. About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess:
Hold a Degree in Engineering meeting Engineers Australia’s professional membership standards, with proven experience in planning, designing, and constructing infrastructure projects, particularly within an operating railway environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engineering tasks under pressure, supported by strong knowledge of engineering practices and hands-on experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of complex systems.
Experience in contract development and management, with the capability to work collaboratively with contractors and stakeholders in public transport infrastructure projects.
Well-developed communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in relevant computer software and a proven ability to negotiate, resolve conflicts, and deliver innovative engineering solutions.

This is a fixed term opportunity for 5 years, available for an immediate start with the possibility of renewal and/or permanency. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months.
