Open Access College plays an important and critical role in addressing educational disadvantaged for South Australian Students who are not able to attend school in person or are unable to access aspects of the full curriculum at their local school. The College is a leader in distance education and operates from Campuses located in Adelaide and Port Augusta. The College caters for Reception to Year 12 students, providing dynamic and innovative teaching and learning programs.

The successful applicant will join our HUMS team, teaching English to Year 12 students and HASS to Year 10 students.

Teaching and Learning at OAC occurs in an online learning environment from R-12. Teachers work in teaching teams using the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GPR) pedagogical framework to develop innovative and engaging curriculum, pedagogy, resources and learning experiences for our diverse range of students. Use of student data and evidence of learning is integral to knowing each student and in planning and tracking their learning.

OAC teachers often teach students with significant needs. Ability to successfully work with a diversity of students who have complex learning and behavioural needs (many with trauma and anxiety) is essential. This involves developing and implementing quality One Plans that address the functional needs of students through appropriate adjustments to ensure growth.

Teachers are expected to provide face to face learning opportunities for their students. This may involve intrastate travel, overnight stays and working flexible hours within an extended day.

Special Conditions:

Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect Training must be completed.

Hold a current SA Teacher Registration.
