The Role:

As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support to individuals with disabilities, helping them achieve their personal goals and aspirations to live as independently as possible. The role involves assisting with daily living activities, facilitating community participation, and supporting social and recreational activities.

This position is Casual, working 30-38 hours per week in Southern Suburbs of Adelaide (Noarlunga and surrounds). To the right candidate, this will eventually transition into a permanent full-time position.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Assist participants with daily living activities such as personal care, feeding, showering, toileting, medication administration, and household tasks.

Prepare meals that meet the participant’s physical and dietary needs.

Support participants in community, social, and recreational activities.

Support participants in one-on-one and group-based capacity building and skills development activities.

Assist participants with mobility and transportation to various appointments.

Mentor participants to develop skills in daily living and community participation, in line with their individual plans and goals.

Support participants to build capacity.

Provide companionship and emotional support.

Document participant progress through written case notes and reports.

What We’re Looking For:

A solid understanding of NDIS principles and values, with demonstrated experience in delivering person-centred support.

Knowledge of first aid, CPR, and medication administration.

Ability to support participants with a variety of disabilities, including high-care needs and co-presenting mental health challenges.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Experience managing challenging behaviours.

A patient, understanding, supportive, and caring nature.

A Certificate III or higher qualification in Disability or a related field, or at least two years of relevant work experience in lieu.

At least one year of relevant work experience.
