Inventory & Transport Planning Officer

The Company

Located in Melbourne's Western suburbs, this established Australian manufacturer offers an opportunity for an experienced Inventory Controller to join an established distribution team on a permanent full-time basis.

The Customer Services and Distribution team is responsible for processing all sales orders, handling storage and distribution of Margarines, Edible Fats and Oils. In conjunction with Distribution and Warehousing, the department determines the transportation of such products according to local, interstate, and overseas markets by road, rail, and ocean vessel.

The Position

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, your principal responsibility is to improve inventory accuracy through cycle counts and rigorous daily reconciliation of production and despatches. In addition, this role will manage the required Chep processes and reconciliation requirements and provide back up and support to the Transport Planning Supervisor, covering leave and unscheduled days off.

Key Functions

1. Lead the stock control and inventory accuracy processes to ensure inventory is accurate in Peercore by conducting cyclic counts and reconciling production and inventory reports daily.

2. Manage and reconcile the Chep account as required, completing monthly reporting and reconciliation processes in the Chep system. Report on any variances or issues.

3. Manage customer stock returns. Check returned stock from customers for credit and compile stock damage reports in warehouse or in transit (damaged by transport companies) and provide recommendations on resolution.

4. Work with the Customer Services team to identify and resolve any stock issues that impact order supplier and customer delivery and put corrective processes in place.

5. Provide coverage and backup for the Transport Scheduler position, when on leave or due to illness.
