The Role

The Suicide Prevention Implementation Team is seeking a dynamic senior project officer with experience in project co-ordination and support. You will coordinate and support the delivery of the Black Dog Institute’s suicide prevention implementation service contracts, its Suicide Prevention Network, bespoke suicide prevention workshops and Community of Practices involving a broad range of suicide prevention professionals across Primary Health Networks, Local Health Districts, and other NGOs.

This is a critical role in that you will be responsible for identifying our external partners’ needs, such as suicide prevention collaboratives across the country, NSW Health pilot sites, and other suicide prevention projects to which we provide implementation support such as the Veterans Toolkit. The role is also critical in supporting the delivery, coordination and evaluation of the Suicide Prevention Network and other BAU processes to coordinate the delivery of suicide prevention implementation services. You will provide timely support and guidance on implementing a systems approach to suicide prevention, primarily through engaging and interactive online meetings and workshops. Developing strong relationships with suicide prevention professionals, regional organisations and suicide prevention sector partners is crucial.

This position will work closely with the Implementation Practice Manager, Suicide Prevention to ensure our suicide prevention service implementation services are well supported and executed for external stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

Workshop development and coordination

• Thorough preparation and coordination of workshops to ensure high engagement from external stakeholders, such PHNs and peak bodies.

• Administration of pre and post workshop, webinar and Community of Practice evaluations

• Collaborate with the suicide prevention research team and other key internal stakeholders to facilitate continuous improvement of all suicide prevention implementation practice services.

• Ongoing development of workshops and Community of Practice content and delivery, responding to feedback and integrating new suicide prevention research and practice as appropriate

• Applying creativity and innovation in ongoing design and development of workshops and Community of Practices to maximise attendance and flex to stakeholder needs

Project Support and Evaluation

• Supports the management of projects/contract deliverables

• Supports BAU and QA processes of the suicide prevention network and management of inquiries for the suicide prevention service implementation team

• Supports the development and monitoring of evaluation frameworks of projects/contracts

Stakeholder Support and Communication

• Establish excellent relationships with external partners, ensuring a customer focused and high-quality service delivery approach

• Support the Projects Lead and Implementation Practice Manager – Suicide Prevention who manages the Suicide Prevention Network, and other various contracts and projects funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health, State Government and PHNs.

• Build rapport and strong relationships with participants and PHNs.

• Provide timely responses to ad hoc requests as well as maintain regular, proactive contact through email, tele/video conferences and community visits.

• Provide external stakeholders with advice and interpretation of available evidence-based suicide prevention strategies and support decision making about the most suitable and relevant interventions.

• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and sector partners to develop culturally safe, relevant and inclusive resources for diverse populations across Australia.

• Establish and support initiatives that maintain connections and support two-way communication between the LifeSpan trial and the Implementation Practice Team, including participation in cross-team meetings and coordination with LifeSpan research and implementation strategy leads.

• Communicate updates on projects, external consultations and events to internal stakeholders at team meetings and ensure external stakeholders are updated where relevant.

Planning and Reporting

• Lead the content development of workplans and progress reports for key stakeholders such as Primary Health Networks, Department of Health, NSW Health and other funding bodies. Ensure strong working relationship with Departmental stakeholders is maintained and communication is clear and responsive.

• Collaborate with the Implementation Practice Manager – Suicide Prevention regarding the scoping, development, planning and delivery of workshops for trials and the broader suicide prevention sector.

• Project manage the content development and delivery of Community of Practices, workshops and other project workshops and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure these are useful and relevant.

• Manage timelines, logistics, support budget management and ensure the proposed outcomes of workshops are met.

• Maintain a tracking system to capture workflow and progress against workplans and other relevant information from internal and external teams (e.g. Research, Data, Education, eHealth and Marketing/Communication teams).

• Support the coordination of responses to government inquiries, submissions and other key stakeholder consultations.

Skills & Experience Required

1. Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline

2. Experience in the mental health, health or not-for-profit sector

3. Demonstrated ability to design and develop interactive webinars, training and workshops

4. Experience in high quality delivery and facilitation of training programs and workshops

5. Stakeholder management experience

6. Project coordination experience
