What You'll Be Doing:

The Registered Nurse – Equipment Coordinator will be required to deliver high quality nursing care to neonates and their families of the Royal Hospital for Women consistent with SESLHD and Newborn Care Centre policies, procedures, and standards.
The Equipment Coordinator in Newborn Care is responsible for the organisation, maintenance, and operation of all medical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The role will encompass working closely with the Clinical Engineer’s to ensure that all equipment and resources are available and ready for use. This is a multi-skilled role for a Senior Neonatal Nurse that is committed to assisting the Nursing Staff of Newborn Care in the delivery of expert and timely nursing care to the critically unwell neonate. This will be achieved by ensuring all necessary equipment, consumables and bed space areas are always available. The Neonatal Equipment Nurse will work under the broad supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager and the Randwick Campus Clinical Engineering Department. The Equipment Coordinator will work within Newborn Care in close collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager, Ward Assistants, Clinical Engineer’s, and the Multidisciplinary Team. They will ensure that new equipment is trialed, safe to use on the Neonatal population, is cost-effective and on NSW State Contract (if applicable). Existing equipment will be maintained according to manufacturing service requirements.

Selection Criteria:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
- Neonatal Intensive Care experience (3 years) or Neonatal qualification, and a sound knowledge of neonatal equipment and products
- Demonstrated time management skills.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Extensive computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems, including Microsoft office.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse/Midwife in applying these principles.
