About the Role

As a Team Leader you will focus on leading, supporting and developing Disability Support Workers in the provision of high quality, comprehensive personal care assistance and lifestyle support to people with a disability and/or high and complex care needs. This involves ensuring that services are delivered in accordance with Wesley Mission Queensland policies and procedures.

Key Role Accountabilities:

Assist with the overall development of the care team, helping individual staff to expand on their skills and practices to deliver and provide excellent care.

Mentor and train staff where necessary and assist with the development of staff as required.

Work as part of a team and assist with the leading, supporting and developing of staff to provide integrated service to meet each residents’ individual needs.

Assist with leading and developing staff, helping them to understand the importance of best practice in the supporting of residents with all aspects of daily living including but not restricted to, personal care, associated light domestic duties, hospitality services, and social /community participation.

Contribute to the leading, supporting and developing of staff, to ensure residents attain and maintain their optimum degree of independence and quality of life.

Provide residents with a physically and emotional secure environment and promote their physical, intellectual, emotional, social, cultural and spiritual wellbeing, helping to lead, support and develop others in its delivery.

Work within the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and NDIS requirements

About You

Demonstrated ability to provide high quality personal care and lifestyle support to people with a disability.

Certificate III in Disability, Aged Care or Qualifications in Leisure and Lifestyle Certificate IV, or related field, from a nationally registered provider.

Proven ability to provide leadership, support others and help through support with the development of their co-workers.

Demonstrated skills and experience in establishing supports for people with a disability and/or high and complex support requirements, particularly around their needs and wants.

Highly effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Proven ability to work both independently and in a team environment to build collaborative relationships with residents, families, colleagues, management and other external stakeholders.

Demonstrated knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety and infection control issues

Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy (NDIS Worker Screening Clearance held before commencing. NDIS Worker Orientation Module ‘Quality, Safety and You completed before starting).

Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.
