Child and Family Facilitator | Making Early Years Count

BUSHkids is a not-for-profit organisation that has been at the heart of transforming lives of regional children across Queensland for 90 years. Our highly dedicated teams and volunteers are all driven by a shared vision that all children should have access to free allied health, early intervention, family and parenting support services regardless of where they live.

As a Child and Family Facilitator at BUSHkids Kingaroy, you will play a key role in delivering our Early Intervention and Prevention services. In this position, you will support children aged 0 to 13 and their families through a range of initiatives including child development programs, parenting education, school readiness programs, home visits, and supported playgroups.

Working closely with families, you will provide practical guidance, resources, and support to promote healthy development and overall well-being. Your focus will be on strengthening parenting skills and enhancing outcomes for children through our Children and Parenting Support services.

This is a permanent part-time role offering 15 to 22.5 hours (0.4-0.6FTE either 2-3 days per week or 5 day fortnight) with flexible scheduling across weekdays aligned to your circumstance and service needs.

Key aspects of the position include:

Community Capacity Building

Professional development for early educators (including family day care) in areas of social-emotional development, play, parenting, early communication and other skill areas as indicated through community engagement and needs analysis

Workshops for parents and caregivers covering topics such as parenting, early communication, play, school readiness, social-emotional development, and other skill areas based on identified needs including fostering soft-entry involvement in the community

Network with key community stakeholders and attend relevant network meetings to strengthen collaboration

Participate in identified community events to engage and support local initiatives

Targeted Programs

Individual parenting support provided at home, in the community or online

Supported playgroups as needed

Child development programs (individual or group) led by Child and Family Facilitators for children aged 0-13 years, such as Fun FRIENDS and PALS, delivered through home visits, community sessions or online

Direct Intervention

Group and individual children and parenting support

Early language intervention groups for children and parents

Linking to and/or provision of relevant intervention services

Service Administration

Coordinate client appointments, including scheduling and rescheduling cancellations as needed

Prepare and plan sessions that include creating resources and developing session outlines

Maintain accurate client records and service documentation in compliance with medico-legal standards

An attractive remuneration ranging from $72K to $81,500K base plus superannuation, leave loading, and portable long service leave. This will pro-rated in accordance being a permanent part-time position.

Not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 in tax savings per year (full time employees). This represents up to $5,935 in your pay to cover essential living expenses, along with a $2,650 meal and entertainment allowance

Additional 3 days of paid leave over the Christmas period (pro-rated for part-time)

About You

We are seeking your experience working with families and children who have learning challenges, that include mild to moderate developmental delays or neurodevelopmental disorders such as ASD or ADHD. Ideally, you will have experience in health promotion and community education with a focus on child development and family support. Any prior experience in planning, implementing and evaluating group programs for young children and their families is highly regarded.

Tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood Teaching, Early Education & Care, Education Support, or Human Services.

Valid Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain)

Current C Class Drivers' License

Evidence of Hepatitis B Vaccination status

Key Selection Criteria

Professional Practice

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in early intervention and prevention services for families and young children including parenting

Demonstrated knowledge and skills in working with vulnerable families who may experience multiple barriers to accessing services

Communication/Team Participation

Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary to work effectively in a local community to provide high quality services

Demonstrated ability to develop professional networks and work collaboratively with other service providers

Leadership/Work Unit Management

Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and ability to share knowledge and skills

Demonstrated ability to work independently without close supervision and to appropriately manage time and workload
