About the role

Jones Complete Services' is seeking an experienced Workshop Fitter/Machinist with fabrication and welding experience to join our team in Barrack Heights, Illawarra, NSW. This full-time position provides a great opportunity for the right candidate to make their mark by taking ownership of our machine shop, and supporting our fabrication team when required.

What you'll be doing

Perform fitting and machining tasks where required on multiple industrial projects

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, and carry out necessary repairs and overhauls

General fabrication and welding support when required

Interpret technical drawings, specifications to produce quality mechanical components/jobs to our customers requirements

Operate a range of workshop machinery and equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drilling machines and waterjet cutter

Maintain detailed records of work undertaken and parts used

Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, within specified timeframes

Contribute to the continuous improvement of workshop processes and practices

What we're looking for

Formal trade qualification as a Fitter/Machinist

Minimum 3-5 years' experience working as a Workshop Fitter/Machinist in an industrial or manufacturing environment

General fabrication and welding skills to assist with fabrication overflow work as required - TIG welding experience is highly desired

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

Proficient in the operation of a range of workshop machinery and equipment

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and job travellers

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Strong time management and organisational skills

Effective communication skills

The ability to both work independently and as part of a team
