ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a practical, detail-oriented person with a strong work ethic to join our rigging team. You’ll be working on a variety of sailing vessels, completing tasks such as:

· Mast Removal and Re-stepping
Work with crane operators to safely unstep and restep masts for inspection, service, or repair.

· Mast Assembly
Fit mast hardware, wiring, lighting, and standing/running rigging components prior to reinstallation.

· Wire Rigging Fabrication
Manufacture wire rigging using swaging, machine work, and lathe operations.

· Mast Transportation & Packing
Safely transport and securely pack masts and spars for delivery or storage.

· Rope Work & Splicing
Splice and prepare running rigging using appropriate techniques and materials.

· Rig Tuning
Adjust standing and running rigging to achieve proper mast alignment and performance.

· Rig Inspections & Reporting
Conduct visual rig inspections and provide written reports for insurance, maintenance, or service planning.

· Rig Measuring & Quoting
Measure rigging and hardware, assess service needs, and prepare material and labour quotations.

· Workshop Duties
Maintain rigging tools, machines, and the workshop environment to ensure safe, efficient operation.

· Collaboration
Work closely with sailmakers, marine technicians, crane operators, and boat owners to coordinate tasks and deliver top-quality results.

Earn up to $99,000 per annum plus superannuation and paid overtime (based on experience)

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· Physical Capability
Ability to perform physical tasks safely and effectively, including:

o Climbing masts and working at heights

o Lifting and carrying rigging components

o Balancing and moving safely around yachts and pontoons

o Confident and safe use of hand and power tools

· Tool Proficiency & Workmanship
Experience operating and maintaining both hand and power tools, demonstrating:

o High standards of workmanship

o Efficiency and attention to detail

o Ability to complete tasks within set timeframes

· Marine Industry Knowledge

o Experience in the marine industry or knowledge of sailing is preferred but not essential

o A willingness to learn and a strong interest in yachts, rigging, or marine trades will be highly regarded

· Safety Awareness

o Ability to identify workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments

o Commitment to working in accordance with safe work practices and WHS procedures

· Communication & Teamwork

o Strong communication skills for working effectively with colleagues, clients, and suppliers

o A collaborative mindset that supports a positive team culture and a high standard of customer service

Rope Solutions Rigging Services is a leading specialist in the marine industry, providing high-quality rigging and cordage solutions for yachts and dinghies. Based in the Brisbane Bayside area, we operate from a purpose-built rigging shed and service marinas throughout Moreton Bay, with occasional travel to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

We’re known not only for our skilled craftsmanship, but also for our customer-focused approach—tailoring rigging solutions to suit each vessel and the individual needs of every sailor. From full rig replacements to intricate ropework and hardware installation, we deliver high standards across every project.

Our team includes Junior Riggers, Riggers, Senior Riggers, and Rope Specialists, supported by our Office and Accounts Managers. Currently, our rigging team of seven reports directly to our Managing Director, Chris Anderson, who brings over 20 years of industry experience and a lifelong background in both dinghy and yacht sailing. Chris leads with a strong emphasis on skill development, safety, and quality workmanship.
