About the Role
The primary role of the Indigenous Liaison Officer is to facilitate effective communication and collaboration between diocesan schools, Catholic Education Services, and local First Nations peoples, communities, and agencies. The aim is to enhance engagement and improve educational outcomes for First Nations students.
As the Indigenous Liaison Officer, your responsibilities will include:
Establishing and strengthening relationships with First Nations communities and school communities.
Identifying eligible First Nations students and supporting them with Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF) scholarship applications.
Under the guidance of teaching staff, assisting with the planning, implementation, and supervision of developmentally appropriate learning experiences for First Nations students—either individually or in small groups.
Supporting First Nations parents and carers through regular communication with Catholic Education and schools, including assistance with parent-teacher interviews and home visits, to strengthen the connection between home and school.
- Working collaboratively with the teacher/s to identify the varying levels of support required by First Nations students and provide this support and appropriate input into planning.

Work Requirements
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (exemption under the Queensland Anti-Discrimination
Act, Section 25 (Genuine Occupational Requirement) - Unless an exemption applies all staff are required to hold a current Working with Children Blue Card or be
eligible to apply - First aid (including CPR) would be highly regarded
- Proven capacity to build relationships with First Nations communities
- Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education
