Are you passionate about protecting personal information and ensuring best practice in privacy management? Our client, the Department of Education is seeking an experienced Senior Privacy Officer to help shape and uphold privacy governance and make a significant impact within a high-profile Queensland government agency, while assisting with the implementation of Queensland’s new Information Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2023.
As a Senior Privacy Officer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the personal information of students, staff, and communities. Working within the Information and Technologies Branch, you will manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes, provide training to departmental staff on privacy obligations, and promote a collaborative, respectful and inclusive team culture.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide expert advice on privacy compliance and management practices across the department.
Investigate, assess and manage privacy breaches and complaints, and prepare formal responses and documentation.
Lead and support the development of privacy policies, procedures, and training aligned with legislative obligations.
Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments and advise on mitigation strategies.
Engage with State and Federal regulators and support privacy-related communications, reviews, and mediations.
Monitor and assess changes to privacy legislation and provide strategic input into departmental responses.
