- Location: Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute (EMAI), Menangle
- Salary from $33.69 to $40.26 per hour + entitlements (Technical Assistant Grade 1-3)
The salary offered to the successful candidate will be commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience, as outlined in the Crown Employees (Department of Industry) Technical Staff Award and the Technical Staff Merit Progression Guidelines.
About the Role
Step into a hands-on role supporting animal house operations at the State’s premier biosecurity facility. You’ll work with housed livestock and laboratory animals, ensuring their welfare and providing daily care and husbandry.
You’ll assist with:
- Preparing and handling samples for testing
- Routine diagnostic procedures
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene and care within the facility
- Preparing reagents, equipment, and materials required for animal care and laboratory use
- Supporting specimen collection
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical work and is passionate about animal care, agriculture, and biosecurity.
What We’re Looking For
- Practical skills and hands-on experience in agriculture, science, or a related field
- Previous experience caring for and handling animals is highly desirable
- Able to carry out physical work in varying environmental conditions
- Attentive to detail and able to collect accurate data
- A team player who can also work independently
- Weekend work will be required on a rostered basis.
Essential requirements
- Qualifications in accordance with Part 2 (xv) of the Crown Employees (Department of Industry) Technical Staff Award
