We are looking for a dynamic and meticulous manager with trade qualifications, to lead and inspire the already exceptional team at Boocock’s Quality Meats.

We are a family-owned retail butcher shop located in the Stockland Birtinya shopping centre. Specialising in grass-fed, free-range, organic and ancestral meats, we pride ourselves on supplying the best quality and widest variety of products. We are passionate about the industry, our team, and ensure that every customer who walks through our door leaves with a smile. We strive to provide a consistently high standard of service, product and create a memorable and personalised experience for every customer.
About the Person:
This is a "people person" role. Being able to lead, mentor and inspire is crucial to this role. As well as supporting and motivating the senior team and team members, this role requires someone who has trade skills and experience in a high-quality, high-volume shop: Understanding what needs to be done by whom, where and when.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Manage the instore team and oversee operations of the butchery.
· Lead, mentor and inspire the senior leadership team and team members to deliver quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.
· Model and encourage a positive work climate, in line with the Company's core values.
· Drive performance across production, sales, and cost control targets.
· Lead by example to create a positive, supportive and collaborative work environment.
· Offer training and coaching to enhance the team's skills, product knowledge, and service standards.
· Oversee recruiting, training, and performance management and development.
· Manage rostering (including leave).
· Liaise and negotiate with suppliers to maintain high-quality products and achieve margin KPI's. (ordering / costing / pricing / brand-aligned products).
· Manage and report on inventory (stocktake), sales, merchandising and shrinkage (updating products and all details on POS back end).
· Ensure that the shop is compliant with all relevant legislation, including SafeFood QLD, Weights & Measures, WHS, etc.
· Uphold and maintain all company Policies & Procedures and HR guidelines.
Skills, Experience and Requirements:
· A certified trade qualification & experience with relevant skills (boning chicken/lamb/pork).
· Previous experience managing a high-volume retail shop with min. 15+ employees.
· Exceptional customer service - and enjoys that aspect of the role. Someone who can lead the team by example.
· Exceptional communication skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment – and LOVE it! This is a high-volume shop.
· Flexibility to manage their individual work roster and schedule, that is in the best interest of the business, staff and production.
· Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
· Permanent work rights in Australia, with no restrictions.
