About the Opportunity

This is a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives and contribute to your local community.

Recovery Workers are essential to the success of our Prevention and Recovery Care (PARC) services. Based at either Deer Park and Sunshine locations, you'll support people on their recovery journey by providing day-to-day psychosocial support, facilitating group programs, and working alongside clinical teams to promote wellbeing and connection.

You'll build respectful, collaborative relationships with participants and create a safe, inclusive environment that supports individual strengths, values lived experience, and encourages choice and self-direction. Recovery Workers also contribute to the continuous improvement of our services by offering insights, ideas, and practical support in the day-to-day running of the program.

Please visit the Wellways Careers site to download a copy of the position description to see further details relating to this role.

We are looking for team members with flexibility in availability as PARC services operate 24/7 with a rotating roster, including day, afternoon, and sleepover shifts. Sleepover shifts are active from 5:30pm to 11pm, then inactive sleepover (with the ability to wake up and convert to active if required) and active again from 7am -9am to support early morning routines and handover. Penalty rates apply for relevant hours worked.

About the Program

The Prevention and Recovery Care (PARC) program is a partnership between Wellways and Melbourne Health's North Western Mental Health (NWMH) service. It provides short-term, sub-acute residential support for people who are either at risk of becoming unwell or who are transitioning out of hospital and need a safe space to continue their recovery.

PARC services offer a welcoming, home-like environment where people receive both clinical and psychosocial support tailored to their goals. Our recovery-oriented approach values cultural safety, peer participation, community connection, and evidence-informed practice.

About Wellways

Benalla, VIC, Australia

Wellways Australia Limited is a leading not-for-profit mental health and disability support organisation with services in Queensland, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and Tasmania. Our services span mental health, disability and community care, and reach thousands of people each year.

We work with a diverse range of people living with mental health issues or various disabilities, and their families, friends and carers, to bring about positive change and build good lives in their communities. This can include creating a home, securing a job and building meaningful relationships.

Our mental health, disability and rehabilitation services bring together evidence from research with an understanding of people’s lived experience—what works for them. Our mental health workforce includes clinicians, nurses, community support workers and ‘peers’—those who have a lived experience of mental illness and recovery. Together, they create an environment that focuses on hope rather than illness.

We work in partnership with people and their families to identify their own needs and goals and support them to attain a great life in the community. Our partnerships extend to clinicians, GPs, hospitals, community health organisations and government, ensuring that our services and programs reach people in the communities in which they live.
