The Rockhampton Grammar School Early Learning Centre are seeking experienced Educational Leader to join our team at our North Rockhampton Centre.

POSITION TITLE: Educational Leader
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Permanent
DEPARTMENT: Early Learning Centre
REPORTS TO: Centre Manager
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Your primary role is to oversee, lead and develop quality reflective practices to deliver the Early Years learning framework to a high-quality standard. Effective leadership builds and promotes a positive organisational culture and professional learning community (NQS Standard 7.2)
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Leading and being part of reflective practice discussions about practice and implementing the learning framework. Reflective discussions and considerations for practice will focus upon interactions, routines, intentional teaching and learning.
Mentoring other educators by leading quality practice.
Discussing routines and how to make them more effective learning experiences, observing children and educator interactions and making suggestions on how to improve interactions and intentional teaching.
Talking to families about the educational program.
Working with other early childhood professionals such maternal and child health nurses and early childhood intervention specialists.
Considering how the program can be linked to the community by working with other community services such as Aboriginal Elders.
Establishing systems across the service to ensure there is continuity of learning when children change room or attend other services, and then in their transition to school.
Assisting with documenting children’s learning and how these assessments can inform curriculum decision making.
The Educational Leader will be required to perform any other task as requested by the Approved Provider, Nominated Supervisor or management representative which is lawful and does not pose a health or safety risk.
The Educational Leader will need to demonstrate:
Strong leadership abilities that display respect, dignity, direction and ability to inspire and influence other educators
Strong understanding of curriculum
Clear pedagogy of learning
Situation responsive
Strong ability to create vision and ability to communicate that vision
Ability to support and extend others
Cutting edge-current ideas/ research
Interest in, and a passion for, children’s learning
An interest in collaborating with other educators
Sound communication skills
A willingness to take on this role.
The educational leader should consider what strategies are needed to improve the educational program and at a minimum should perform:
Monthly curriculum reviews
Regular educator meetings
Mentoring
Training on any new research to assist educators.
Other Duties:
To act as Assistant Director when required;
Other duties as directed by the Director of Early Learning.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To work in accordance with the requirements of the Children Education and Care Services National Law (Queensland) Act 2011, Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard for Early Education and Care
Working in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the Early Childhood Australia
Implementing the services’ philosophy in undertaking all other duties
Working in accordance with the policies and associated procedures of the School and Centre
Provide ongoing support and assistance to other staff in all areas of service operation
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY
Staff employed by The Rockhampton Grammar School Early Learning Centre have responsibilities relating to Occupational Health and Safety which require staff to recognise and support all of the Centre’s Workplace Health and Safety Manuals, Policies and Procedures, in addition to taking reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others at the workplace.

REQUIRED LICENCES/CERTIFICATES
Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent;
Current First Aid Certificate (approved by ACECQA)
Current CPR Certificate (approved by ACECQA)
Current Anaphylaxis Training (approved by ACECQA)
Current Emergency Asthma Management Training (approved by ACECQA)
Current Working with Children Check as required under legislation
National Police Check where administering CCS as a person in day-to-day charge
Commitment to maintaining current knowledge and attending additional training as necessary
Safeguarding Children Online Training Certificate
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The successful applicant will be subject to a “Working with Children Check and Criminal Records Check” where applicable. The School undertakes several screening processes to ensure the appropriate protection of children and young people in its care. This includes reference checks, identity checks qualification check and professional registration checks.
