About the Role
Based at North Fitzroy PARC and doing some cross site working at Footbridge CCU, you will provide a peer support service to consumers who have a mental illness and co-occurring substance use issues. Developing and facilitating group work, participating in continuous improvement and service development are part of the role. Providing peer AOD education sessions is also part of the role.
- Provide a high level of support to consumers and assist with complex consumer relationships
- Attend consumer groups as necessary to build relationships with consumers
- Education, training and orientation of staff, graduates and students on the peer worker role and integrated care.
Classifications for this position will range from MP36 - MP39 ($76,086 - $83,168 per annum pro rata)
Your Contribution
- Lived or living experience of a mental illness and alcohol and other drugs (AOD)- integrated care needs - in a way that has changed the course of your life.
- Sound working knowledge of and a commitment to recovery oriented practice in relation to substance use, with a focus on working collaboratively with consumers and carers to promote self-determination, personal strengths and enable progress towards reaching individual goals.
- Demonstrated experience in working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- An understanding and working knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 (including amendments) and other relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with multiple key stakeholders both internal and external to St. Vincent's Hospital (including consumers, nominated persons, carers, family members and community agencies).
- Ability in the provision of culturally competent services appropriate to the needs of people from diverse backgrounds including those from a CALD background.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including problem solving ability and conflict resolution skills, as well as sound oral and writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability in leadership and coordination of projects and group facilitation
- A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain

About North Fitzroy PARC
The Prevention and Recovery Care (PARC) provides short term sub-acute intensive residential services with a recovery focus to consumers who require additional support, early in relapse or following an acute in patient admission. The service is run in partnership with Wellways Australia.
The service operates under the principles of recovery orientated practice, utilising the strengths model.
The team is creative, imaginative and committed to supporting consumers to realise their recovery goals and move forward in their lives.
