We’re currently seeking a passionate Youth Engagement Officer to join our Cultural and Engagement Unit and support our young people as they transition out of care and into independence.

About the Role
As a Youth Engagement Officer, you will walk alongside Aboriginal young people in Out-of-Home Care from the age of 15, helping them build the skills, confidence, and cultural connection they need for adulthood. You’ll co-design transition plans, deliver living skills workshops, support After Care clients, and connect young people with critical services like housing, employment, and education.

Tasks and Responsibilities
Facilitate future planning (leaving care) processes from age 15
Run Youth Circles and life skills workshops
Provide support to After Care clients
Help young people access housing, Centrelink, education, and employment pathways
Maintain strong relationships with carers, families, PSP caseworkers, and external services
Participate in interagency meetings, evaluations, and service improvement initiatives
Requirements
Aboriginality
National Criminal Record Check
Valid NSW Working with Children's Check - Paid Worker
Valid NSW Driver's Licence (minimum Provisional 2)
Skills and Experience
Strong knowledge of the issues affecting Aboriginal young people and communities
Experience in youth case management, advocacy, or youth work
Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal, written, and report writing skills
Ability to engage adolescents and young adults effectively
Strong time management, problem-solving, and organisational skills
Flexibility to work varied hours as needed
