About the Role

As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM), you will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality nursing services across a variety of health care settings. Building on your clinical experience and expertise, you will provide person-centred care while supporting and guiding less experienced team members. You’ll be accountable for your own professional standards, contribute to best practice outcomes, and collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team to promote safe, consistent, and effective patient care.

In this dynamic position, you’ll work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager to support the day-to-day operational and clinical management of the ward or unit. This includes participating in change management initiatives, workforce planning, staff rostering, and performance development. You will also take on a portfolio of responsibilities that contribute to service improvement, quality assurance and continuity of care, helping to drive excellence within the team and support a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

About You

You’re a dedicated and experienced nursing professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality care. Your strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively will see you thrive in this role.

Current Registration – You are registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing Board of Australia and hold, or are eligible to hold, a current practising certificate. A qualification or enrolment in an approved Mental Health course is highly regarded where applicable.

Skilled and Experienced – You bring a minimum of 3 years post-registration experience (or are currently classified as a Clinical Nurse/Midwife) with demonstrated competence in your area of practice, including supervising and supporting junior staff.

Strong Communicator and Team Player – You possess well-developed communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Knowledgeable and Adaptable – You understand current healthcare legislation, quality improvement systems, and professional standards, and can apply creative and flexible approaches to problem-solving in a dynamic clinical setting.
