About the role

This full-time role as a Management Accountant with the Groote Archipelago Regional Council will be based at our offices in Parap, Northern Territory. As the key part of our Finance team, you will be responsible for providing critical financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making across the organisation, along with Financial Reporting responsibilities.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and analysing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and budgets

Monitoring expenditure and identifying opportunities for cost savings and improved financial performance

Providing expert advice and recommendations to senior and executive management on financial matters

Collaborating with department managers to develop and refine budgets and forecasts

Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance financial reporting and controls

Supporting the month-end close process and reconciliations

Interim and End of Financial Year Reporting

Participating in special projects and other duties as required

What we're looking for

Tertiary degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline

CPA / CA professional qualification

8+ years' experience in a management accounting or similar senior finance role

Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, reporting standards and budgeting best practices

Proficient in the use of financial analysis and modelling tools, such as Excel

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Problem-solving mindset with the ability to provide commercially-focused insights

Experience working in the local government or public sector highly regarded
