Newcastle Private Hospital is seeking Registered Nursing applicants to join our Medical Oncology team on a Part-Time basis. The Oncology Unit covers both an Inpatient setting as well as a day oncology area, providing our patients the best possible care during their treatment.

We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.
Newcastle Private Oncology Department provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care. The service has a 10 bed Inpatient Unit and a 9 chair Day Oncology Service.
We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region. Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.
As Registered Nurse your responsibilities will include:
- Undertake acute nursing care in accordance with legislation
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care
- Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team
- Ensure patient and staff safety
- Supervise, direct and guide nursing team members; Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and (AINs) to deliver patient care
- Proactively assess the nursing care required to ensure the best possible outcome is achieved for the individual / patient
- Complete all required documentation in accordance with local and National Policies
Essential Criteria:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum of 2 years' relevant post registration qualifications
- Demonstrated experience working within an acute medical or oncology setting
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of quality improvement initiative using research principles to support evidence-based practice, including development of policies and guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a supportive team.
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement individualised patient centred care;
- Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations;
- Advanced communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a willingness to learn new skills.
- Flexibility to a seven-day roster including night duty

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF - NSW Nurses and Midwives' - Enterprise Agreement 2020-2024, a salary ranging from $35.46 - 49.79 per hour
