This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata’d to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.
This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas

Now is a great time to join the team at Wentworth Health Service. The Wentworth Hospital is undergoing a full redevelopment, with a brand-new facility set to open in August 2025. The new hospital will feature 19 inpatient beds and a modern emergency department, including two resuscitation bays.
The Wentworth Local Government Area is home to approximately 7,500 residents, with around 1,500 living in the township of Wentworth. Nestled at the junction of the Murray and Darling Rivers, Wentworth offers a relaxed lifestyle with all essential amenities. - Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. (N.B. An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW).
- Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) with current registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or willingness and commitment to obtain.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and to liaise with other health professionals and external agencies to facilitate integrated care for Aboriginal people.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, time management, and computer literacy including word processing and data entry skills.
- Active involvement in the local Aboriginal community, with demonstrated understanding and commitment to improving the health issues impacting on Aboriginal communities.
- Ability to work unsupervised, use own initiative and take a lead role in initiating and carrying out community development activities.

About Far West NSW Local Health District
Bordering three states, Far West Local Health District (LHD) covers 194,949 square kilometres in remote NSW. The LHD is sparsely populated, with 62% of its approximately 30,000 inhabitants living in the Silver City of Broken Hill. The remainder of the population live in agricultural towns along the Murray River, in small remote communities of 80-800 people or on stations throughout the LHD. Far West LHD is the most sparsely populated LHD in NSW and has the highest proportion of Aboriginal residents (9.6%). The population is decreasing, ageing and experiencing significant morbidity related to lifestyle factors and chronic illness.
The vision for Far West LHD is Excellence in Rural and Remote Health. The LHD is working to develop a more stable, resident workforce with reduced reliance on fly-in and agency staff, and ensuring that high quality services are provided in accredited, high quality facilities.
