Description
SM Transport & Maintenance are expanding operations in Laverton North, Melbourne and are now seeking to add both a Warehouse Team Leader & an experienced Forklift Operator to their team. Both these roles are hands-on roles working with a small team supporting daily warehouse operations and driving process improvement.

Requirements (Warehouse Team Leader)

Minimum 2 years’ experience leading a small team

Forklift license

Experience loading Heavy Equipment (Farming & Access equipment) highly regarded

Excellent stakeholder management skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams

internally and partner with external suppliers.

The ability to identify issues and develop creative solutions to address challenges proactively

Effective time management

Effective communication skills

Strong understanding of customer service expectations & requirements

Good computer skills

Good WMS system knowledge

Ability to load “ugly” freight (Farming & Access equipment) would be highly regarded

Key Responsibilities

Oversee small warehouse operations team & lead day-to-day operations to achieve strategic deliverables and meet daily targets

Daily order picking, cross-docking & stock distribution

Ensuring all daily orders are picked & dispatched

Ensure correct & accurate paperwork (Consignments & batch numbers)

Drive operational improvements while fostering a supportive environment where people

feel motivated, valued and empowered to succeed.

Manage inventory/storage levels and provide solutions and guidance for continuous improvement

Ensure compliance with regulations and standards related to goods handling.

Co-ordinate warehouse stock cycle counts weekly

Assist in undertaking other periodic stock take counts, as required,

Provide excellent customer service via competent and timely responses to stock and freight enquiries

Ensure compliance & adhere to company WHS standards

Requirements (Experienced Forklift Operator)

Forklift license

Minimum 2 years’ Forklift experience

Experience loading Heavy Equipment (Farming & Access equipment) highly regarded

Key Responsibilities

Loading & Unloading Trucks (including unloading & loading shipping containers)

Pick & Pack daily orders, cross-docking & stock distribution

Admin/Operational support

Perform quality & stock checks on products and inventory

Assist with periodic stock take counts, as required

General cleaning and upkeep of warehouse

Complying with regulations and standards related to goods handling

Ensure compliance & adhere to company WHS standards

From small beginnings, we started out operating with one truck mainly carting hay, wood and farm machinery in Victoria. Our business has grown, and we now operate Australia wide. With a wide variety of trailers tailored to our customer’s needs. We are an independent, family run business, originally based out of Barham, NSW we now also operate out of our new Melbourne depot based in Laverton. With the growth of our business, we found the need to employ our own qualified diesel mechanics, this has given us the ability to also service the local area for any maintenance needs for heavy vehicles.
