About the Role:
This role involves delivering Qur’anic and Islamic Studies lessons to students from Reception to Year 6, with a strong emphasis on:
Correct Qur’an recitation (tajweed)
Basic Islamic teachings, Seerah, and fiqh aligned with the Hanafi school
Developing Islamic character (akhlaq) and values
Age-appropriate pedagogy and meaningful student engagement
You will work in collaboration with other educators and support staff to foster a learning environment that nurtures the faith, identity, and spiritual well-being of all students.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
Embraces and supports the Islamic ethos of Garden College in line with the Hanafi school of thought
Has a strong foundation in Islamic Studies and Qur’anic recitation, particularly for primary-aged students
Is able to inspire and engage students with a compassionate and inclusive approach
Can integrate Islamic teachings with character development and moral growth
Works well in a multicultural school environment and as part of a collaborative team
Essential Requirements:
Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with full Working Rights
(Overseas applications will not be considered)
TRB SA Registration OR eligibility for a Special Authority to Teach
Relevant teaching qualifications and/or Ijaza/Islamic Studies credentials recognised in Australia
Experience teaching Qur’anic Studies, Islamic history, and Seerah to primary students
Proficient in using ICT to support teaching and learning
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN-EC) certification
First Aid Certificate (HLTAID012 – Education and Care Setting)
Position Details:
Position Type: Long Service Leave Cover
Start Date: Term 3, 2025
Contract Duration: Term 3, with potential extension into Term 4 and 2026 academic year
Location: Garden College Primary Campus, Northern Suburbs, Adelaide
Salary Range: $65,000 – $83,000, based on experience and qualifications
