About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Full-Time Petcare Attendant to join our passionate team of animal lovers at Heathcote Pet Hotel located in Sydney's Southern Suburbs.
This is more than just a job — it’s the first step in a structured 12-month development plan to fast-track your career as a future leader!
- 1 to 6 months: Learn all areas of Pet Care — dogs, cats, grooming support, and late/closing shifts.
- 7 to 12 months: Expand into Reception and Supervisor Development — customer service, administration, and Hanrob Leadership Training Program.
In just 12 months, you’ll have the skills needed to step into a Supervisory position!
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality care for boarding and daycare pets: feeding, cleaning, enrichment activities, and health monitoring.
- Basic pet grooming support (washing, drying, brushing).
- Deliver excellent customer service at pet drop-offs and pick-ups, ensuring owners feel informed and reassured.
- Assist with reception tasks: check-ins/outs, taking bookings, handling enquiries, retail sales, and payment processing.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures to maintain our high standards.
- Actively participate in complaint handling with a focus on positive customer outcomes.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for pets, staff, and visitors.
Key Requirements:
- Experience essential — must have at least 12 months of previous work experience in a kennel, cattery, vet clinic, dog daycare centre or similar animal care facility.
- Able to work at, and sustain, a brisk pace to complete assigned tasks within set timeframes.
- Passionate about companion animals.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to professionally manage customer interactions and complaints.
- Confident, competent communicator and positive disposition, who enjoys teamwork but is also happy to work independently as needed.
- Basic computing skills (Microsoft Office familiarity essential, reservations/payment platforms preferred).
- High attention to detail, particularly in health checks, feeding, medication preparation, and pet notes/data entry.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative, and proactively seek opportunities to learn and develop skills and knowledge further.
- Physically fit and able to work indoors/outdoors in all conditions, handling pets up to 50kg.
- Availability to work Tuesday to Saturday roster (38 hours per week),
- Successful candidates must be available to work weekends, public holidays & school holidays.
- Valid & unrestricted NSW driver's licence and own reliable transport (public transport is limited).
Desirable (not essential):
- Certificate II/III in Animal Studies or related field.
- Experience in leadership, supervision, or training team members (even informally) in any work industry.
- Experience in retail sales, reservations, or a fast-paced customer service environment.

IMPORTANT: This is an active and physical role working across the Pet Hotel. The incumbent will be required to work indoors and outdoors (sometimes in inclement weather conditions), and in close proximity to cats and dogs, on their feet for a significant portion of their day. They must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, bend, crouch, kneel, squat, reach, stretch, and restrain animals up to 50kg on leads, communicate, speak, and interact with team members, customers, internal and external stakeholders, and members of the public in person, in order to perform the inherent requirements of the role. Successful candidates will be required to complete Pre-Employment Checks to demonstrate their capacity to perform the inherent requirements of the role.
