The Role
Atwell College is seeking a dedicated and organised Senior Gardener – Handyperson to join our friendly team.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and presenting the school grounds in a clean, tidy, and attractive condition. To be successful as a Senior Gardener – Handyperson, you should be competent in performing minor repairs and carrying out all duties using safe work practices. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, proactive, uses initiative, and works efficiently when unsupervised. Applicants with strong gardening and handyperson skills are strongly encouraged to apply, to ensure our buildings and grounds are maintained to the current high standard.
The successful applicant will ideally have strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with computer skills to maintain accurate gardening records and assist in managing staff where required and provide advice and support to the Facilities Coordinator and Manager Corporate Services on school grounds maintenance.
A passion for the outdoors and the ability to lead and work collaboratively with team members is highly desirable to help maintain a clean, tidy, safe, and enjoyable outdoor environment for students, staff, and the community. Familiarity with the Department of Education Gardener guidelines is highly desirable.
In addition to grounds and gardening duties, the role includes minor repairs and facility maintenance, in line with Department of Education policies and guidelines. You are responsible for ensuring a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management whilst adhering to Occupational Health Safety standards.
