About This Opportunity

AUSCERT (the Australian Cyber Emergency Response Team), is seeking an experienced and qualified Senior Information Security Analyst to provide technical and operational support within our dynamic Analyst Team.

In this role, you'll also contribute to the implementation of strategic initiatives alongside the General Manager and Analyst Team Lead, helping to maintain AUSCERT's position as a leading cybersecurity organisation.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Consume and analyse information sources and prepare threat intelligence alerts and reports.
  • Explore opportunities for, and provide guidance on, the expansion of threat intelligence services for member organisations.
  • Consult on the technical aspects of information technology and provide high level support for Vulnerability Management services (e.g. monitoring of publicly facing infrastructure; preparation of security bulletins; drafting of incident notifications).
  • Incident support and other related provision of services to members (e.g. phishing takedown requests and follow-up).

About You
  • A bachelor's degree with a significant information technology component, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and/or training.
  • Formal training and/or industry certifications (e.g., SANS/GIAC; CISSP; CISM; CSSLP) in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded: IT security related discipline, systems administration, programming or networking.
  • At least four years' experience in the IT industry, with at least two years of experience relevant to IT security (for example,
    threat intelligence; vulnerability management; IT security incident resolution; CSIRT team experience; etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience in threat intelligence standards, tools and practices (e.g., MISP).
  • Knowledge and experience in standard approaches and tools to perform vulnerability assessments.
  • Knowledge and experience of incident management processes and activities.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of security controls and security management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrable ability to work effectively with others to achieve positive outcomes and mentor junior staff member.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, think creatively and develop innovative solutions to complex security challenges.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, and criminal check.
