About the role

Mater Private Hospital Brisbane is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join the 9 North Acute Medical team on a permanent part-time basis at 24 hours per week.

The Acute Medical Unit is a large multifaceted service incorporating all aspects of the internal care continuum for medical patients from the emergency department through to discharge from hospital.

You will become an integral part of the team that is passionate about making a difference in the lives of those you care for, while making a positive contribution to the overall standard of care delivered by the unit. You will join a team of highly skilled multidisciplinary professionals, and your enthusiasm and dedication for nursing will be highly valued within a supportive and professional environment.

Salary range: $41.73 - $53.53 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, our Registered Nurses make up a vital and respected part of the nursing team at Mater. Key duties and responsibilities will include:

• Utilising a structured approach, carry out comprehensive and accurate nursing assessments of patients
• Within scope of practice, implements planned evidence-based nursing interventions
• Act as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed and consent is gained prior to procedures
• Contribute to the maintenance of an environment which promotes safety, security and personal integrity of individual patients and groups
• Maintain and adhere to Infection Control policies and practices
• Complies with organisational policies, procedures, work instructions and guidelines
• Ensure confidentiality of corporate and patient information

About you

We are searching for a nurse with extensive Acute Care experience to seamlessly join the team and hit-the-ground-running, continuing your nursing career and providing exceptional care from day one. As such, you will possess:

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
• At least 2 years recent experience within an acute medical setting (essential)
• High level skills in problem-solving, communication, coordination and time management
• The ability to contribute effectively and efficiently within a busy, multidisciplinary team environment
• Previous respiratory nursing experience will be very highly regarded
• Ability to work a rotating roster including mornings, afternoons and nights
• Understanding of the Mater mission and values and the ability to engage others in living these values in 9 North
