About the Role

WorkPac is seeking a Category Specialist on behalf of our mining client. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering value across the procurement and supply chain functions through strategic sourcing, stakeholder engagement, and effective contract management. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will collaborate closely with internal teams and the external supply network to ensure business requirements are met efficiently while driving cost-effective and value-adding outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Understand procurement and contracting needs in a mining environment

Conduct supply market research and strategic sourcing initiatives

Lead contract negotiations, drafting, and documentation management

Perform financial analysis and management reporting

Manage contract implementation and category performance monitoring

Resolve commercial issues within your procurement portfolio

Maintain SAP system controls and procurement workflows

Drive procurement process improvement initiatives

Build strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers

Skills and Experience Required

3+ years’ experience in category or contract management (mining preferred)

Strong skills in data analysis, reporting, and written communication

Excellent interpersonal, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving abilities

Experience with ERP systems (SAP and/or Ariba preferred)

Degree in business, supply chain, or law is desirable

Professional procurement qualifications are an advantage
