We are seeking an experienced Technician who is ready to join Polaris Sales Austrlaia. You will be working closely with our Head Office team based in Melbourne, Defence team and dealers across Australia and New Zealand and will report to the National Service Manager for Australia and New Zealand.
This position is responsible for the Training and Field Service of Polaris Defence Vehicles fielded to Government customers, with specific emphasis on Military customers. A key member of the Defence team that works to provide the level of support expected by and contracted from government customers. Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for engineering, business development and customers on technical and service-related problems.
These duties could extend to international customers and include coordination with Polaris International operations, dealers, distributors and representatives of Polaris Defense. This position is critical for repeat business for Polaris Defense.
What you will be responsible for:
Master Trainer for the Government and Defence team on all Polaris Platforms
Performs advanced support activities for equipment and system products such as maintenance, wiring, and cabling using established company guidelines.
Develops new and updates existing technical training materials for the Government and Defense team.
Instructs customers in proper use, operation, and preventative maintenance of equipment by conducting New Equipment Training and Mechanical Certification Training
Fosters a culture of continuous improvement with support functions in Polaris Defense
Trains concepts and theory of product maintenance, engines/cooling, electrical, fuel management, drive train, clutching, suspension, and brakes
Conducts infield and factory training programs; coordinate and prepare training presentation materials
Participates in technical service team initiatives, problem solving and continuous improvement efforts
Acts as a technical liaison for engineering and tech pubs
Interacts face to face and over the phone to provide customer service and after sales support
Attends product shows, customer shows and sales events as needed
Collaborates with training partner schools to deliver Polaris training for staff and students
Other tasks as allocated by the Manager to support the Warranty and Service Department
What skills and experience is Required?
Must have current National Police Check and ability to obtain Defence Industry Security clearance
Military mechanical experience is preferable
Certified Automotive Technician or equivalent trade qualification required
Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical experience in automotive, powersports, or military vehicle support
Capable of operating as an individual contributor and team member
Strong computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate concisely, communicate thoughts, ideas and technical terminology and content
Delivers excellent customer service and maintains positive customer relationships
Works well under pressure and managing multiple priorities
Strong problem-solving ability with prioritization and attention to detail
Deep understanding of Defense Regulations and contract vehicles used by defense contractors and commercial companies
Proven technical aptitude to understand Polaris products and communicate technical attributes related to the products
Strong planning & organisational skills, multitask and priorities workload
A high-level of initiative and the ability to be autonomous and self-motivated
Willing to travel, national & international, to support Business Development, Integrated logistics support and Training activitie
Fluent in written and spoken English
