About Mawarnkarra Health Service (MHS)
Mawarnkarra (MHS) is the largest primary health care provider providing direct services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in the Roebourne area. MHS provides the families of Roebourne with a fully functional and accredited Clinic that treats approximately 3,000 people per year.

The Position
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) functions autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role within their specialty scope of practice.
With particular emphasis on chronic disease management. The NP consults with other health care practitioners when the patient’s condition requires care beyond their scope of practice as set out in the collaborative practice framework. The NP provides advanced nursing assessment, diagnosis, care and intervention to patients and families within the scope of practice of a Nurse Practitioner; as well as high-level clinical nursing, leadership, management and governance.
As a core member of the multidisciplinary team the objective of the NP role is to increase access to high quality and cost-effective care, streamline the patient journey between acute and primary health care services and enhance health outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
This is achieved whilst working as part of Mawarnkarra Health service in providing a quality and client focused environment and ensuring the focus of care is on the need of Aboriginal clients within the context of their cultural identity and social circumstances.

The Requirements
Maintain competence to practice in accordance with national competency standards for the Nurse Practitioner as described by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority Nurses & Midwives Board of Australia.
Patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment
Prescribing medications
Ordering and analyzing pathology and radiological tests
Referring patients to other Health Professionals
Undertaking patient care on referral from Health Professionals
Manage patient conditions according to approved Clinical Practice Guidelines within own scope of practice.
Ensure nursing compliance with relevant Federal/State legislation, Department of Health policies, and local procedures as they pertain to the delivery of health services.
Provide resources to clinical staff to assume currency and relevance of nursing policy, practice and procedures.
Work collaboratively to support medical, nursing and allied health colleagues in the performance of their clinical duties.
Manage patients and documents with regard to risk management principles.
Refer appropriate medical problems to senior medical officer or treating GP.
Work under the guidance of the SMO to develop patient lists for visiting specialist assessment and ensure required investigations and paperwork are completed prior to specialist attendance
Manage the portfolio of patients with kidney disease, heart disease and liver disease
Promote effective clinical leadership.
Develop and implement evidenced based Clinical Practice Guidelines and procedures as required and relevant.
Other Requirements
Consent to a Working with Children Check and a National Police Certificate. Employment is conditional pending the outcome of these checks.
Current Drivers Licence.
AHPRA Registered.
COVID-19 Vaccinated. (triple vax as per government mandate for all health care workers)
CPR Certification.
All employees are subject to regular random drug and alcohol testing.
Attend and participate in the professional development program and relevant external seminars and conferences, as approved

Remuneration Benefits include:
Salary of $132,678 - $135,773.80 p/a
11.5% Superannuation
Housing and District allowances (subject to eligibility)
Full-Time hours available
