Eastern Health

Eastern Health is one of Melbourne's largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.

Our Employee Value Proposition is "Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts".

This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.

About the role

The Angliss Hospital Intensive Care Unit is seeking an experienced ICU Critical Care Registered Nurse to join our team and ensure seamless transitions for patients from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to the wider hospital. This pivotal role is your opportunity to use your ICU expertise hospital-wide, guiding teams and making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes every day.

In this dynamic role, you will act as the vital bridge between the ICU and general wards, ensuring critically ill patients receive the best possible care beyond intensive care. You will respond to Medical Emergency Team (MET) calls and Code Blues, providing rapid assessment and critical care expertise hospital-wide. As an advocate for early intervention, you will support and educate ward nurses in recognizing and managing deteriorating patients, ensuring smooth post-ICU transitions. Working closely with ICU teams, medical staff, and ward nurses, you will play a crucial role in improving patient safety, optimizing recovery, and supporting families through challenging times.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or other recognised equivalent formal qualification leading to condition free registration in Australia
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australian (NMBA) via AHPRA
  • Post Registration or Post Graduate qualification in Critical Care nursing
  • Demonstrated clinical skills aligned with experience and scope of practice, at least 5 years' experience in Critical Care nursing
  • Advanced clinical and patient assessment skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Previous experience in a similar role or at senior clinical level

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
