The Opportunity
Engagement type/length: 12 months non-ongoing or S26 transfer (for permanent APS employees)
Salary: approx. $124,000 - $135,000 + 15.4% superannuation
Security clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance
Location & flexibility: Canberra location preferred with hybrid and flexible working available

About the role
This role will work as part of a branch that provides national leadership on renewable energy policies, programs, regulations and international partnerships to help position the Australian economy to achieve Net Zero by 2050. As an EL1 Assistant Director in the Section you will lead and contribute to the delivery of existing policy measures, the development of new strategic policy and specific measures, industry monitoring and reporting and a range of international engagements.

About you
Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the following:

• Interest in Climate and/or Energy policy
• Strong strategic policy at an EL1 (or equivalent) level
• Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret policy, legal, or regulatory frameworks
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor complex information for different audiences
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills
• Comfortable working in a dispersed team environment
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
