Capital Football is the governing body for football in the ACT, responsible for overseeing competitions, pathways, development programs, and the continued growth of the game across our region. As a proud member federation of Football Australia, we are committed to delivering safe, inclusive, and accessible opportunities for everyone to engage in football—whether as players, coaches, referees, volunteers, or fans.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Head of Participation & Member Services is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving inclusive growth and strengthening engagement across all levels of football in the ACT. This position leads the development, delivery, and evaluation of innovative, evidence-informed programs that create positive first experiences, support lifelong involvement, and reflect the diverse needs of our community.

In addition to overseeing participation pathways, the role plays a critical part in enhancing club and community capability and ensuring high-quality, responsive member services across the football ecosystem. Working in partnership with clubs, Football Australia, local government, schools, and community organisations, the Head of Participation & Member Services will ensure all initiatives are aligned with Capital Football’s strategic priorities and national frameworks.

This role focuses on:

Designing, delivering, and evaluating participation programs that drive recruitment, retention, and re-engagement across all ages, stages, and formats of the game.

Collaborating with local clubs to build their capacity through targeted support, education, and resources that enable them to deliver safe, high-quality football experiences.

Leading the development of member services to ensure a positive, consistent, and responsive experience for all participants, including players, coaches, referees, volunteers, and families.

Using data and insights to inform program design and decision-making, including monitoring trends, identifying participation gaps, and measuring impact against strategic objectives.

Promoting inclusive and accessible opportunities, with a particular focus on engaging underrepresented groups and delivering programs in line with national diversity and inclusion strategies.

Building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships with Football Australia, local government, schools, and community partners to grow the game and extend the reach of participation initiatives.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you’ll be a proactive and passionate leader with a strong understanding of community sport and stakeholder engagement. You’ll bring a mix of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and people-first leadership.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

Proven experience designing and delivering participation or community engagement programs.

Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and manage relationships across clubs, community groups, government, and partner organisations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach and ability to lead, influence, and support diverse stakeholders.

Ability to use data and insights to inform strategy, monitor participation trends, and measure program impact.

Understanding of community sport systems, including club operations, participation challenges, and inclusion frameworks.

High-level organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results.

A Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration (or ability to obtain one).

Full Australian working rights and a valid driver’s licence.

WHAT WE OFFER

A key leadership role with purpose and influence across the football ecosystem.

A supportive, collaborative, and values-driven workplace culture.

Opportunities to build strong networks across sport, government, and community sectors.

The opportunity to make a real impact on participation outcomes across the ACT.
