Supporting clients for over 20 years - our Founder still practices in the clinic part-time! - Better Life Centre is a widely respected Psychology and Mental Health/counselling service working with clients of all ages. Centrally located in Kedron, the clinic is a modern yet homely environment, creating a friendly and safe atmosphere for clients.

At Better Life Centre, we offer bespoke services tailored to each client's unique needs. Our therapists' flexibility allows them to integrate all evidence-based methods into their practice.

Our experienced team of supported Private Practitioners consists of 13 therapists: 1 x Clinical Psychologist; 7 x Ed & Dev Psychologists; 3 General Psychologists; 1 x Psychotherapist; 1 x Individual / Couples Counsellor.

We support a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, phobias, trauma, bullying, school refusal, eating disorders, substance abuse, family separation, behavioral issues, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, gender identity, and grief and loss. We also offer cognitive and behavioural assessments. So, learning opportunities and flexible options abound!

With 12 years' clinical experience on average, and over 7 years at Better Life Centre on average, our Psychologists are highly experienced therapists. Our team describes our workplace culture as “fantastic”, surrounded by “knowledgeable”, “empathetic”, and “generous clinicians”. We gather monthly for group clinical supervision.

The Role

A private practice role at Better Life Centre presents a unique opportunity for the right Psychologist. Working in a close-knit and supportive environment with six dedicated clinic rooms available in the practice, we operate and support as a team.

Our client pipeline is strong: We have had referrals from 211 GP clinics in the last 12 months alone, and 140+ new clients commence in just the last 3 months. We're currently actively meeting with targeted schools and GP clinics in the area to support our clinician's caseload: (1) volume, and; (2) clinical preferences.

Our clients are primarily Medicare clients. Our next main cohorts are Private Health Insurance or Private clients, with the remainder being NDIS and DVA.

This role offers flexibility to work weekdays of your choice, plus the option to include Wednesday evenings (plus other evenings in near future) and Saturdays where suitable. Ideally, we seek a Psychologist looking to work a minimum of 3 days per week but we can be flexible with other arrangements for the right person, depending on the needs of our clients. As a contracting General or Clinical Psychologist, you will have the freedom to direct your calendar and choose the referrals you see, ensuring a work-life balance that suits your needs.

You will benefit from access to regular peer consultation with our team of clinicians with the potential to engage in formal supervision with our approved supervisors.

Essential Requirements

Drawing from the strengths of our current Psychologists, we seek like-minded professionals who:

Hold general or clinical Psychologist registration with AHPRA.

Have a minimum 2 years’ experience working with your preferred client types.

Hold registration with Medicare or the ability to obtain a provider number before commencement.

Demonstrate a compassionate, gentle approach.

Have a strong interest to continue learning in creative modalities.

Exhibit excellent organisation and time management skills.

Are self-motivated, passionate and driven.

Are warm, personable, and capable of working both in a team and autonomously.

Have sound computer literacy skills (though we can help you here!).

Think 'outside the box' with high-quality evidence-based practice.
