Overview
The School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University (ECU) offer undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees. Academics in the School are involved in research and teaching relating to a wide range of health disciplines.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Laboratory Technician or person with a degree or experience in relevant discipline to join our technical support team. The role is responsible for the delivery of high-level laboratory and equipment advice and support services in both research and teaching laboratories and contributes to the provision of a safe laboratory environment for students and staff in all the disciplines within Allied Health Sciences programs within the School.
Our ideal candidates will meet the selection criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications OR equivalent expertise gained from a combination of relevant qualifications and experience.
- Demonstrable technical skills and experience in preparing for laboratory sessions and maintaining equipment particularly associated with Exercise Physiology, Biomechanic, Nutrition, Dietetic and willingness to be trained in, and conduct, Respiratory Fit testing.
- Strong Occupational Safety and Health awareness with a demonstrated ability in the safe handling of hazardous substances, biological materials, radioactive sources, and irradiating equipment.
- Ability to work across different discipline areas and adapt work hours to suit teaching class requirements.
- Ability to write and review detailed documents.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Possess a valid Driver’s Licence.
Experience working in a medical clinical setting as exercise physiologist, biomechanism, nutritionist or allied health professional would be highly regarded.
The roles are physically demanding due to the regular movement of equipment and materials.

Benefits & Remuneration
This position attracts remuneration of $81,614 – $90,691 plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
