About headspace:
headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers core areas including mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services. Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV) is the lead agency for headspace Bairnsdale, which is governed by a consortium of local community organisations who provide expertise, support and advice to RAV.
About the role
Reporting to the Centre Manager, your responsibilities include being the first contact point for young people accessing headspace services either from the centre or from a state secondary college to provide holistic and integrated care. You will build a positive rapport with a wide range of young people, as well as their family and friends. You will also regularly liase with relevant schools and be skilled in assessing a young person’s needs, including complex risk assessments. Additionally, you will regularly participate in clinical supervision to meet client needs in an evidence-based, outcomes-focused manner.
This opportunity is part-time, ongoing based at either our headspace, Bairnsdale or Sale Centre, working three (3) days per week, with Tuesday evening shift every week. The base salary range is $103k - $106k (pro-rata) per annum with access to salary packaging of $18,550 per annum
About you
- Degree with mental health credentials, including Mental Health Nurse, Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Psychologist or Provisional Psychologist (under supervision) or Mental Health Social Worker.
- Experienced in intake, risk assessment, brief interventions, and coordinated care within youth and mental health settings.
- A broad understanding of the challenges and experiences of young people in Australia, including specific community factors.
- Passionate about working with young people and committed to their health and wellbeing.
