Experienced Cook Wanted for Semi-Independent Accommodation Facility.

Role Overview:
As our Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to the dietary needs of our residents. Your culinary expertise will directly contribute to enhancing the quality of life for those in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and prepare daily meals in accordance with individual dietary requirements.
Ensure all meals are presented attractively and served in a timely manner.
Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, adhering to food safety standards.
Collaborate with care staff to accommodate special dietary needs and preferences.
Manage kitchen inventory and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
Essential Criteria:
Minimum of 12 months' experience in a similar role, preferably within a disability or aged care setting.
National Police Clearance.
Understanding of dietary requirements specific to aged care and disability support.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Commitment to providing high-quality, person-centered care.
Understanding of Implementing and monitoring food safety programs, including:
Regularly recording food temperatures using a clean, sanitised probe thermometer.
Ensuring cold foods are kept at 5°C or below, and hot foods at 60°C or above.
Documenting temperature checks and corrective actions taken when necessary.
Complying with Australia's Food Standards Code, specifically Standard 3.2.2, which outlines requirements for food safety practices and general requirements.
Desirable Attributes:
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
Experience with menu planning and food cost management.
Knowledge and understanding of food safety program recording and temperature checking, including:
Use of accurate and accessible thermometers.
Regular monitoring and documentation of food temperatures.
Adherence to safe temperature ranges for potentially hazardous foods.
